Albuquerque Laser Tattoo Removal

The Lutronic Q-Switch Laser has become the gold standard treatment for tattoo removal. When you get a tattoo, your body immediately tries to remove it because ink is considered a foreign substance. Over time, the tattoo becomes faded and hazy looking which is an indication that the body is trying to remove the tattoo ink. Using laser technology, you can speed up the process and shatter the ink into small particles.

The Q-Switch laser creates a very short high energy pulse, causing the ink to thermo-acoustically be broken up into minute particles that the body can readily absorb. As the laser attacks the tattoo, a light grey "frosting" appears on the tattoo, a signal that the appropriate energy was applied and the removal process will begin. Every tattoo is unique with different colors and volumes of ink so please contact one of our laser specialists to find how our treatments can help you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1What is tattoo removal?
Spectra laser tattoo removal uses laser energy to significantly lighten or completely remove your tattoo. Ink particles are targeted by the laser energy and broken into small fragments that your body can absorb. Tattoo ink is heavily deposited deep into your skin, and as a result in order to completely remove the tattoo, multiple treatments are required.
2What should I expect during my treatment?
During the treatment most patients report a stinging feeling, like the snap of a rubber band on the skin. You can request a local numbing agent, such as a topical anesthetic or ice prior to your treatment.
3Will my tattoo be completely removed?
No two tattoos are alike; they vary in the type of ink used, colors and depth of application. Black and red inks are generally the easiest to remove; blues and greens are moderate, while light colors such as yellow tend to be the hardest.
4How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required for optimal results depends on the size, locations, depth and color of the tattoo. Treatments should be performed 10-12 weeks apart in order to allow your body time to remove the tattoo ink fragments. As your body heals after each treatment you will notice your tattoo lightening.
5How long are the treatments?
Each session usually takes 10-30 minutes and will depend on the size of the tattoo. If a numbing agent is applied prior to your treatment, extra time will be needed for it to work.
6Is there any downtime?
With no downtime and minimal side effects, you may return to your normal daily activities immediately.
