FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1What is a VI Peel?
The VI Peel is a medical grade, medium depth peel designed to lift pigment, remove sun damage, alleviate acne and scarring, and fight fine lines and wrinkles. This is achieved by the peel being able to painlessly penetrate through the dermal and epidermal junction to the papillary dermis. The VI Peel’s consist of 5 different formulated peels:
- VI Peel Original
- VI Peel Advanced
- VI Peel Precision Plus
- VI Peel Purify
- VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus
2Is the VI Peel Right for Me?
The VI Peel is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types and can be done on teens and up. When you arrive at your appointment, your provider will assess your skin and decide which peel might be more beneficial for you. If you are looking to just even your skin tone and texture, the original VI Peel may be the one for you. With our aging patients, VI Peel Advanced can help you combat those fine lines and wrinkles. Any discoloration such as melasma, sunspots or hyper pigmentation can reverse with the VI Peel Precision Plus. Acne and acne scarring can be frustrating to treat, but with VI Peel Purify or VI Peel with Precision Plus, it doesn’t have to be!
3Is the VI Peel Painful?
Absolutely not! The VI Peel has a numbing agent in it, therefore making the peel virtually painless. You may feel some tingling once the peel is applied but as soon as it is applied to the skin, the numbing agent kicks in, and the tingling subsides within seconds. As for after, healing the next week is also painless.
4What's the VI Peel process?
Your peel appointment will be simple and quick! We recommend coming into the appointment with no makeup on to provide an easier, smoother application. Your provider will start by double cleansing and assessing your skin. Once they have decided on which peel to use, the rest is simple. The peel will be passed along your neck and face with a rough gauze and the process repeats about 7-8 times, waiting about 1 ½ minutes in between. You should expect to only be in the office for about 30-45 minutes. You will then be sent home with a kit full of skincare you will be using for the next week and the peel will sit on your skin for an additional 4 hours, which you will eventually wash off at home.
5What's VI Peel Healing like?
The next couple of days after the peel, you may experience some itching and/or a “tight” feeling to the skin. By day 2 or 3, your skin will begin to peel. It is very important to note that during this time, you are not supposed to pick or pull at any of the peeling skin. It is also best to time the peel during a time when you can refrain from exercise and being outside in the sun. Everyone peels differently, but you may peel in sheets or light flaking. This will go on until your skin is done peeling and by day 7 you will have smoother, brighter, and rejuvenated skin!

Good, Better, Best!

VI Peels can be combined with multiple different treatments to boost your results. Botox and VI Peels can be done on the same day! This is considered Toxbooster. Botox works with the muscle, while the peel works with skin in helping smooth fine lines and wrinkles. With Toxbooster, you are treating all signs of aging with two treatments in one appointment! Fine lines and wrinkles and sun damage can all be combated in the same day. Treating your skin with the VI Peel after lasers or microneedling can be another way to speed up your process and achieve better results. When you are receiving lasers or microneedling, those devices work very well on their own to break up the pigment underneath the skin. Once your skin has fully healed from those treatments, coming in for a peel afterwards helps pull everything up and out. That top layer of skin is exfoliated and sloughed off, bringing the new brighter skin to the surface.
